A Twitch streamer's one-year ban following a joke was revoked after their friend engaged in a discussion with Twitch staff during TwitchCon

Twitch streamer SkumnutTwitch streamer Skumnut recently had his ban lifted from the platform after nearly a year, thanks to his friend's intervention with Twitch staff at TwitchCon.

Twitch's bans continue to affect a wide range of streamers, from those with smaller audiences to prominent ones boasting thousands of viewers. These bans can result from various infractions, including offensive usernames, sexually suggestive content, and streamers using offensive language.

For some streamers, especially smaller ones, reversing a ban can be a challenge, even if they believe Twitch made an error.

Skumnut encountered such a situation, enduring a year-long permanent ban due to a joke about "kicking his friend to death."

However, the tide turned for Skumnut on October 24 when his lengthy ban finally came to an end. His friend managed to persuade Twitch staff at TwitchCon to overturn the indefinite ban.

StreamerBans confirmed Skumnut's unbanning, which lasted for 11 months and 6 days, via Twitter/X. Skumnut expressed his gratitude, stating, "I always come back," and credited fellow streamer Matt Apocolypse for advocating on his behalf with Twitch staff at the event, resulting in the reversal of his ban.

The ban originated from a joke Skumnut made during his friend's stream, where he quipped, "I'm going to kick you to death." His friend chuckled at the comment and clarified to viewers that it was in reference to Skumnut's completion of a "kick-only" playthrough of God of War.

Amidst these ban-related occurrences, Twitch's CEO Dan Clancy discovered, while at TwitchCon, that he had been rejected by the partnership program.
